Photographer’s Note

Amid the vast serenity of Lake Titicaca lies Copacabana, a small Bolivian town known for its warmth and spirit. Just a short boat ride away is Isla del Sol, the setting for this evocative image. High atop the island's sunburnt hills, I encountered this abuela, an elder selling her handmade wares alongside goods gathered from afar. Her resilience and generosity radiated through the harsh and beautiful landscape, making a life where few would dare.

Women of the Andes offer strength and vitality that quietly shapes their communities, often without recognition or adequate support. To help honor and uplift these remarkable women, the majority of profits from every framed print will be donated directly to Yapay Bolivia. This organization is committed to empowering women and children in Bolivia through impactful education and healthcare programs, ensuring every contribution has a direct and meaningful effect.
